Within the complex there are 3 types of Transport options available. So i would suggest all of you to make it a point to visit the official website before you come here so that you are well informed and know which places to see in advance I was lost about the transportation available within the complex to see different places which are scattered over a large area on either banks of the Narmada river. The place has been made to world standards, with cleanliness all around and guides all around to help you and give information about the place. The Dream of Prime Minister Narendra Modi of building the worlds tallest statue is a fitting tribute to the Iron man of India.
Normal ticket costs 350/- rupees (Half of a dollar). The best time to visit the place is November to February, when it is not much warm and Sundays should be avoided. It is the must visit Place, probably the Best Tourist Attraction in India.
As we were tired and were in hurry to get back to Vadoadra for overnight rest in the hotel, we missed that. The whole area is known to be illuminated and providing an excellent panoramic scene. Next is a huge court yard with benches, where people relax and also wait for laser show that starts after sunset. Outside near the main entrance is food court with variety of food items but it is always crowded. The whole area is maintained very well and so are the rest rooms. So we could complete our visit fast and spent more time in the Exhibition area which houses many pictures, objects and exhibits related to Patel's childhood, youth and later days. Even for taking lift inside the statue area to go to viewing gallery, express ticket holders get priority. The express tickets, though 3 times costlier than normal tickets, are useful particularly for senior citizens, as they do not have to wait in long Q. This place is nearly 100 km away from Vadodara and as visitor reaches the reception area, he has to take shuttle buses for going to different attractions. As our visit was to be on a Sunday, I did online booking of Express tickets. The whole statue can be divided into 4 zones - first mezzanine floor housing with exhibition, garden and roof etc, 2nd zone extending till the statue's height, third one till viewing gallery and fourth one of head and shoulders which not accessible to visitors. The statue of Unity is 182 meters tall atop a 52 meter base. Of course nearby Sardar Sarovar Dam had been in existence before the construction of this statue costing nearly 3000 crores mostly by public donation and is a great attraction on its own. The complete construction of the statue along with resting places, restaurant and development of many nearby attractions like Valley of flowers, gardens etc have taken nearly four years. I have been planning a visit of the statue since 2018 November, when it was opened to public. Thus this Statue of Unity truly symbolizes the national, spiritual and historical values of India. The name derives its source from the fact that 562 states made free by Britishers before leaving the country were unified and merged with India by Sardar Patel's untiring efforts. Dedicated to the memory of Sardar Vallabhbhai Patel, one of modern India's founding fathers and first Deputy Prime Minister, this colossus has been named as Statue of Unity.
